ONYECHERE FETES IMO PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED COMMUNITY
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Imo State on Information and Advocacy, Ms Adaora Onyechere, yesterday through her ‘Touching the Untouched’ initiative celebrated the New Year with physically challenged persons in Ihube, Okigwe Local Government Area.
In her address to the people, Onyechere reassured them of the governor’s determination to carry everyone along irrespective of class, tribe, place of origin or birth. She also stressed that advocating and reaching out through welfare and empowerment of these persons with disabilities are cardinal in the #RebuildImo agenda, hence the Governor created the Ministry for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups under the able watch of Barr. Mrs Nkiru Ibekwe, to address the plight of the downtrodden in the society.
In her words, “We connect and try to bridge the gap between the rich and poor in the society so, a time like this is a period to celebrate these special citizens because it takes an administration with a human face to help fellow Imolites. That’s why we have taken it upon ourselves to come to Okigwe, to make sure these very important citizens of our dear State feel loved and appreciated in the society.’’
Continuing, ‘‘We are here to celebrate with these special citizens and also give them a sense of belonging because we strongly believe in adding value to humanity and people with disabilities shouldn’t be deprived in any way because of their situation.”
Onyechere assured that His Excellency Governor Emeka Ihedioha is encouraged by the faith of Imolites in the #RebuildImo agenda and can only intensify interventions across board to make Imo state a leading example on the world stage for the South-East and the country at large.
Among these special people were children living with autism, cerebral palsy, elderly men and women, the visually impaired and others.

EMEDIKE CHOKONEZE DRUMS SUPPORT FOR IHEDIOHA
On the 25th Of December, I was received by the men, women, youths and the majority of my people, the people of Emedike Chokoneze.
The gathering was in appreciation to His Excellency the #DueProcess Governor, for finding one of their sons worthy to work in his cabinet.
The people of Emedike Chokoneze also used the opportunity to express their gratitude to the Governor for commencing several road projects, payment of pensioners, payment of workers salaries on time, and grading of their rural roads this festive period, amongst other human oriented projects.
In more show of appreciation, the Village thanked the Governor for his prompt response in the installation of their brand new 200 KVA transformer donated to the village by a noble son. They also assured the Governor of their unalloyed support to the #RebuildImo Administration.
For me, it was an honor and great privilege to be hosted by my people. I assured them that His Excellency is committed to the comprehensive development of Imo State, not minding your place of birth, origin or tribe.

IMO FIRST LADY AND YOUTH COMMISSIONER LIGHT UP CHRISTMAS FOR INDIGENT CHILDREN IN THE STATE
The First Lady of Imo State, Lady Ebere Ihedioha in collaboration with the Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Engr. Okechukwu Umez-Eronini, hosted the 2019 Christmas Fiesta for the Less Privileged and Motherless babies in Imo state.
The event which took place earlier today at Heroes Park featured different games, cutting of cakes and a lot of singing & dancing.
At the event, the First Lady admonished the children to imbibe good virtues and be of good character in order to be adequately prepared as leaders in the future.
The Commissioner in his remarks, encouraged the children to work hard in any engagement they may find themselves in life, stressing that hardwork is the hallmark of excellence.
Engr. Umez-Eronini also disclosed that his ministry will be rolling out a number of social benefit programs that will benefit the children in the coming months.
The event which had over 300 children from different registered orphanage homes in attendance ended on a high point with the First Lady and the Honorable Commissioner joining in a group photograph with the kids.

Her Excellency, Lady Ebere Ihedioha today flagged off the FEED A CHILD program.
Feed A Child program is an initiative geared towards making sure every child in Imo State receive meals rich in the necessary nutrients required for proper growth and development.
At the flag-off ceremony, the First Lady of Imo State called on parents and guardians to take seriously the issue of child nutrition. She also disclosed that the prevalent malnutrition in many children gave rise to the need to embark on this initiative.
The Wife of the Governor enjoined parents and guardians to take advantage of this program and feed their children and wards with extra fortified pap meals, which is provided free and made accessible for every child aged 0-59 months.
Free extra fortified pap meals will be distributed to all the Local Government Areas on a monthly basis to ensure the children obtain the required nutrients needed for proper physical and mental development.

Okoro praise Imo governor for Reviving Ahiajoku Lecture Series:
The Special Assistant to Governor Ihedioha on Youth Affairs,Hon.Engr Okoro Rex, Saturday unanimously applauded Governor Ihedioha for Reviving The intellectual Igbo Harvest in a manner that has never been experienced before in the history of the State.
The Leader of Ihedioha Youth Movement, described Governor Ihedioha as a man of history, expressing delight that he has united everybody irrespective of political leaning through Culture.
“Ihedioha has demonstrated that Enhanced Quality Leadership can go side by side with cultural development. Rebuild Imo Government had shown that good governance can only be achieved if based on the cultural imperatives of the people” he Said

GOVERNOR IHEDIOHA FLAGS OFF 3-DAY RE-ORIENTATION PROGRAM, VOWS TO REHABILITATE JUVENILE OFFENDERS
His Excellency, Governor Emeka Ihedioha today declared open the SAVE THE YOUNG 3-Day Reformation & Reorientation Programme for Juvenile Offenders, holding at the premises of the Nigerian Correctional Service Headquarters, Owerri.
The Governor in his speech restated his dedication to champion the initiative to reform and reorient juvenile offenders as useful members of the society.
He hinted that the State is reviewing the Law on Children and Young Persons’ Act II, which bears the responsibility of the setting up of juvenile courts. He also disclosed that the state has commenced plans to set up a State Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy.
The Governor also called on the church and other faith-based and non-governmental organizations to lend a hand in the efforts to make juvenile offenders better members of society.
In her opening speech, the convener of SAVE THE YOUNG INITIATIVE, and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Information & Advocacy, Ms Adaora Onyechere gave the objectives of the program as Reformation, Rehabilitation and Reintegration of juvenile offenders, including the development of necessary programmes like skill acquisition, civic education, and other facilities to assist underage offenders.
She thanked the Governor Emeka Ihedioha-led government for the immense support in ensuring that every section of the society is carried along in the #RebuildImo agenda.
The Governor was accompanied to the event by the Secretary to the Government of Imo, Barr. Uche Onyeagucha, The Chief Of Staff, Goverment House, Barr. Chris Okewulonu, the Commissioner for Youths, Hon. Umez Eronini, the Special Adviser Security, Mr Raymond Nkemdirim, Chief Ikemba Martin Opara, DG Imo Orientation Agency, among others.
The event also had the presence of State Assembly members, Hon. Amarachi Iwuanyanwu, member representing Nwangele and Hon. Philip Ejiogu, member representing Owerri North, and Rev. Fr. Gerald Njoku, representing Archbishop A.J.V. Obinna.
