GOVERNOR IHEDIOHA ATTENDS 2020 OJI EZINIHITTE CULTURAL FESTIVAL
—GOVERNOR’S VISIT A HOMECOMING — AKWARANDU
It was a festival of colors yesterday, 1st January 2020, at the 2020 Oji Ezinihitte Cultural Festival.
The Oji Ezinihitte is an annual festival held on rotational basis among the communities in Ezinihitte. The festival was instituted in the early 20th century, to replace the annual Ira Ofo Ezinihitte.
The landmark event kicked off around noon, with the arrival of traditional rulers and other guests both from home and abroad.
One of the high points of the occasion was the arrival of His Excellency, Governor Emeka Ihedioha. The Governor was received with a 21-gun salute in his honour.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, High Chief Engr. Herbert M.C Nwogu thanked the Governor for finding time to grace the occasion despite his busy schedule. He also expressed his gratitude to the Governor for extending the dividends of good governance to the people of Ezinihitte, urging that the Ezinihitte people will accord every support required to the #RebuildImo project.
While addressing the mammoth crowd at the occasion, the Governor reiterated his commitment to taking Imo State to enviable heights. He expressed his gratitude to the people of Ezinihitte for their continued and unwavering support, while also promising that more will be done to ensure our dear State realizes its full potential.
He also encouraged the diasporans to take full advantage of the changing economic fortunes of the state and invest in Imo.
The event also featured a lot of singing and dancing, in addition to the traditional rites of carrying the Okwa-Oji in turns, amidst pomp and pageantry, by the ancient communities that make up Ezinihitte Mbaise.
High point of the event was Governor Emeka Ihedioha’s visit to Emedike Chokoneze, where he was played host by the Special Assistant on New Media, Aic Akwarandu.
Akwarandu speaking after the Governor’s visit noted that the visit is a homecoming considering his love for the good people of Chokoneze.
He assured that Governor Emeka Ihedioha is passionately committed to the holistic Rebuilding of Imo State. He thanked the Governor for leading other members in his entourage to his country home, stressing that the Governor’s visit shall remain an indelible honor of a lifetime.

Chris Okewulonu; the member representing Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency, Hon. Emeka Chinedu; Hon. Anyadike Nwosu; Hon. Mrs. Getrude Iroeme, IMC Chairman Ezinihitte L.G.A; the Honorable Commissioner for Commerce & Entrepreneurship, Hon. OGUTA ROLLS OUT FESTIVE DRUMS FOR HIS EXCELLENCY OGBUAGU EMEKA IHEDIOHA
The Oguta Community was agog yesterday as Governor Emeka Ihedioha was hosted to a grand civic reception.
The ceremony began with a Thanksgiving Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Oguta, while the Reception took place at the Oguta Lake Waterfront Pavilion.
The Governor paid a courtesy visit to the Paramount Ruler of Oguta, His Royal Highness, Eze Nnani Nzeribe Eze-Eyiche, where the monarch showered him with Kingly blessing.
Beginning with a kayak race in the glittering Oguta lake, contestants of the Local Governments in Imo State paddled vigorously to determine the fastest rower. In the end, Isiala Mbano came third, with Oguta and Aboh Mbaise taking the second and first positions respectively.
In his opening remarks at the reception, Prof Ike Azogu who was the Chairman of the occasion, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the remarkable partnership he has with their son, the Deputy Governor, and for his equitable goodwill to the Oguta Community, noting that Oguta was relegated to the background in the past administration, despite its huge human and natural resources.
The reception ceremony was a display of the rich cultural heritage of the Oguta people. There was music and dance performances by the different age grades in the community, as well as masquerade displays.
The Deputy Governor, Engr Gerard Irona in his remarks also assured the Governor of the unalloyed support of the Oguta Nation.
High point of the ceremony was the induction & conferment of His Excellency, Governor Emeka Ihedioha, with the the traditional title of OGBUAGU.
Ogbuagu is a traditional title conferred on men who achieve remarkable feats in the traditional Igbo society. The Ogbuagus are known to be great and renowned warriors. It is top on the list of titles that can be given to a person in Igbo land.
In his speech after the ceremonial rituals, Ogbuagu Emeka Ihedioha thanked the people of Oguta Community for their support to the administration.
The Governor also assured them that every dividend of democracy due to them will get to them, as well as the rest of the state.

Chima Nwana; Former Commissioner for Police, Mr Rabiu Ladodo, State Commissioners, Senior Special Assistants, Heads of Government & Nongovernmental Agencies, Traditional Rulers, the Clergy and the general public.

The Special Assistant to Governor Ihedioha on Youth Affairs,Hon.Engr Okoro Rex, Saturday unanimously applauded Governor Ihedioha for Reviving The intellectual Igbo Harvest in a manner that has never been experienced before in the history of the State.
The Leader of Ihedioha Youth Movement, described Governor Ihedioha as a man of history, expressing delight that he has united everybody irrespective of political leaning through Culture.
