Imo State Governor, His Excellency Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha joined Imolites and the rest of Nigerians to mark Nigeria's 59th Independence Day Celebration in Imo State at the Cenotaph Arena, Concord Boulevard Owerri.

Governor Emeka Ihedioha met with Imo State Born South African Returnees.
Governor Emeka Ihedioha also received the leadership of Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology, led by the National President, Emmanuel Oluwole Toye, at the State Executive Chambers, Government House, Owerri.
The group conferred on His Excellency: Fellow of the Institute and an automatic member of the Elders' Council, Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology.

His Excellency, Governor Emeka Ihedioha, CON, attended the 9th Edition of Chief Emeka Anyaoku Lecture Series on Good Governance, held at Art Nouveau event Centre, New Owerri.
The Lecture series which had Senator (Dr) Ben Obi as the Chairman of the occasion also had the duo of Dr Reuben Abati and Sen. Shehu Sani as guest speakers.
Chief Emeka Anyaoku, GCVO, TC, CFR, was the Secretary General of the Commonwealth between 1990 to 2000.
The 9th Edition of Chief Anyaoku’s Lecture series was centered on the theme: YOUTH AND THE CHALLENGES OF NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

His Excellency, Governor Emeka Ihedioha received on Courtesy call a delegation from Imo State Sports Commission Board, All Sports Association Chairmen and Reception of Imo State Contingent to National Youth Games held recently at Kwara State. Gov Ihedioha used the opportunity to Donate Two Buses To Imo Sports Commission and also doled out Cash Reward, Scholarships to Coaches and Athletes.
Governor Ihedioha also Sworn-In New Permanent Secretaries. Reads Riot Act. Says His Administration is Repositioning the State Civil Service.
Governor Ihedioha later attended the 2019 HerbFest, a symposium and exhibition event organized by Prof Maurice Iwu held at the All Seasons Hotel, Owerri where he sought Prof Iwu's collaboration to develop the health sector in Imo State.
"Few persons remember Prof Iwu for serving the nation, but he disciplined himself to return to the world of medicine
"We do appreciate his efforts in Imo State. Many people remember him for his exploits at the national level, but we in Imo State do recognise him as a scientist of note, not forgetting that about four years ago, he opened a pharmaceutical firm at Umunna" he said.
He assured that next year, the state government will give greater attention to hosting the Annual Health tourism programme conceptualised by the former INEC Chairman.
Governor Ihedioha who spoke on the benefits of good health which he attributed to good food, also purchased various health/food items displayed by participants - researchers,  producers, pharmacists.

His Excellency Governor Emeka Ihedioha, CON, embarked on an unscheduled visit to 7 Local Government Areas across the State, for the purpose of inspecting the ongoing projects been executed by the Interim Management Committee of Local Government Areas.
The LGAs visited were Obowo, Ihitte Uboma, Ehime Mbano, Ahiazu, Ezinihitte, Aboh Mbaise and Ngor Okpala.
The projects inspected were the Local Governments Mini Stadia/Recreation and Development Centers, as well as a Secretariat Complex.

Governor Emeka Ihedioha had a breakfast meeting with little David Wisdom Uchechukwu who  made a wonderful recitation during the 2019 Independence Day celebration at Ikeduru Local Goverment Area.
Wisdom became the Cynosure of all eyes and the Governor in his unsual manner of celebrating and rewarding excellence deemed
it necessary to celebrate and encourage him.
The Governor also adopted the little Wisdom as a son and promised to train him all through his life.
Wisdom who hails from Ikeduru was accompanied by the Ikeduru Interim Management Committee Chairman, Dr A.C. Opara,  His Parents Mr and Mrs David Osuagwu, His Teacher, Ehiri Joy Godfrey, and the young man who released the video, Akujor Micheal, the New Media Aide to the LGA Chairman.
Governor Emeka Ihedioha on same day also received on Courtesy Call the Hon. Minister of State for Education, Hon Emeka Nwajiuba and thereafter attended the Imo Pension Stakeholders Forum held at Concord Hotels, Owerri.

Governor Ihedioha Restates Commitment To Security In Imo
…As GOC 82 Div, lauds Gov’s Strides in Security
Speaking when he received in audience, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 82 Division, Enugu, Brig. General Lasisi Adeboye and his entourage at Government House, Owerri, Tuesday, Governor Ihedioha said, the successes and achievements recorded in security in the State, can be attributed to the unflinching support of citizens of the state, in addition to the collaboration and synergy between the state government and security agencies.
He assured that efforts geared towards ridding the state of crimes and criminality will remain the priority of his administration.
"It was challenging tackling insecurity in the state after the elections, but we have now found our rhythm in corroboration with the security agencies to deal with crime in the State.
"The Army has been working with us in tackling security challenges in the State" he said
While harping on the need for continued unity and peaceful existence in the country, he said, "We have only one nation. Nigeria is one united country and we will continue to encourage our people to promote ethos of national unity".
The governor commended the Nigerian Army for deploying General Adeboye to 82 Division, expressing optimism that with his wealth of experience, he would live up to expectation.
"We want to assure you of the commitment and readiness of the government and the good people of Imo State to corroborate with the Nigerian Army in general, the 82 Division and 32 Artillery Brigade, Obinze in particular”.
Earlier in his remarks, General Adeboye commended Governor Ihedioha for his unwavering commitment to ensuring the security of the people of the state, adding that the Nigerian Army appreciates his administration's support to its operations in the State and in the nation at large.
Present at the meeting include; Commander of 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze, Yusuf Tukura, Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Ladodo, Chairman, Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Eze Sam Ohiri and some top government officials.
His Excellency, Governor Emeka Ihedioha CON, same day constituted the 2019 Ahiajoku Lecture Planning Commitee.
The Ahiajoku Lecture Series, an established platform for intellectual discourse on the identity of Ndigbo, which was abandoned in the last seven years, is being repositioned in fulfillment of the promise made by His Excellency, to promote culture and tourism in the state.

The Panels were empowered to enquire the following:
a. Identify the strength and problems of the universities and make appropriate recommendations to the Visitor.
b. Ascertain the operations of various departments/ Units. This is also applicable to Deans of Students Affairs, or Faculties, Directors of Academic Planning, Works, ICT, Procurement. To also investigate other issues such as cliqueism and cultism.
c. Ascertain the operations of the universities and investigate students’ complaints bordering on various issues.
d. Conduct internal audits including the Bursary Department, aimed at ascertaining the financial status from 2012, including Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), university Micro finance bank and come up with a comprehensive report.
e. Investigate award of contracts in the universities and ascertain if due process was adhered to in line with the Procurement Act 2017.
f. Investigate state of infrastructure, including collapsed or collapsing buildings
g. Investigate the appointment of the Vice Chancellor, to ascertain if it was in conformity with due process.
h. Ascertain the welfare of students and investigate allegations of sexual abuse, extortion, issues bordering on allocation of hostels, sub standard books, handouts, SUG election and illegal payments.
i. The Panels are mandated to capture other issues not listed on the terms of reference and forward to the Visitor not later than one month.

Gov Ihedioha attended the Public Service Stakeholders Summit & 2-Day Public Service Masterclass, held at Concorde Hotel Owerri.
The event organized by the Imo State Government, is a public service stakeholders summit with leading experts, thought leaders and practitioners drawn nationally to share experiences and lead discussions, to revitalize the delivery of good governance and socio-economic development in various sectors of the government.
The theme of the event is Building Effective Public Sector Management for RebuildImo Agenda: Critical Success Strategy.
The summit was graced by notable personalities, with Prof. Pat Utomi as the Key Note Speaker.
The event also had in attendance other public service experts and thought leaders in the persons of Dr Chris Asoluka, Amb (Dr) Kema Chikwe, Linus Okorie, Prof. Jude Njoku and Dr Agatha Ndugbu.
The Governor was represented at the event by his Deputy, Hon. Engr. Gerard Irona.
